Established by author and conservationist Gerald Durrell, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust has had the same four-word mission statement, ‘Saving Species from Extinction’, since it was founded in 1959 and this remains at the heart of what the charity does today.

60 years which include:

• 14 species saved from extinction

• Survival chances of target species increased by 150%

Thousands of animals released into the wild

• 5,500 conservationists trained from 142 countries around the world

•   435,445 hectares of habitat protected

In 2025 Durrell wants to see:

•   10 ecosystems across the world’s major biomes rewilded
•   100 threatened species on the road to recovery
    500 endangered species projects working more effectively
•   1,000,000 people better connected with nature

UPM has been listed as the leading forest and paper industry company in the in the Dow Jones European and World Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for the sixth time. And has an AAA rating from the Carbon Discloser Project for its efforts related to climate change, sustainable forestry and water use.
